Iran observes 2017 Earth Day

In keeping with the spirit of this year’s Earth Day on April 22, Iranians mark the occasion with a week to follow up the global cause.

The week starting from April 22 falls on the second day of Persian Calendar month of Ordibehesh.

Iranians have a wide array of initiatives and campaigns in place to promote thinking green as well as raising public awareness on environmental issues.

Earth Day is a global occasion to remind people in the world of environmental protection. According to religious teachings in Islam, Muslims are also obliged to protect the environment in the best possible way.

Meanwhile, cinematic events held across the globe marked the Earth Day. Iranian film ‘Don’t Be Tired!’ qualified to compete at one of these events titled, "The Earth Day Film Festival" based in the US.

“Don’t Be Tired is a timely and inspiring film that elucidates universal commonalities even in light of outward differences and language barriers. Hashemi has clear and comedic mastery as a director. A well-crafted film traversing through loss, grief, mishap, and optimism to connect humans across the globe," official selection announcement of the festival reads.
